| Often considered a walk back in time, the Everglades reflects the earlier times before Florida's development boom. Many who live in the area prefer a slower approach to life and to live closer to nature. In the skies or under water there is much for the sightseer. Sub-tropical species are everywhere, and the Manatee can be sited outside of River Wilderness Waterfront Villas or guided tours are available.
Everglades City is an island mangrove just one mile long, yet there are many activities for the visitor. Everglades City hosts a full array of shops, restaurants and outfitters to satisfy boaters, bikers and sightseers alike. If you love seafood, especially stone crabs, Everglades City is ideal. Besides the outstanding fishing from shore, boat or charter, Everglades City hosts their annual "Seafood Festival" in February to celebrate the abundance of life in these pristine waters. |
